Wolverhampton City Council is seeking to contract with a provider for the provision of a combined, planned home based respite care service and an emergency home based respite care service for carers.

The planned respite care will be delivered in the carer’s own home between the hours of 7 am and 11 pm, with the emergency care being available at any time over a 24 hour period.  The service will cover all carers, whether they care for an older person, someone with mental health needs, learning disabilities or long term impairments.   The Council intends to purchase a service and award a contract on a citywide basis.  

The contract will be awarded on quality and cost below a prescribed hourly rate.  An enhancement will be paid for short notice emergency care and the Council will endeavour to offer over 150 hours each week of planned respite care. 

Expressions of interest are invited from organisations that are established, registered with the CQC and have substantial experience of the provision of services to support carers.

There is a requirement for the provider to have an office base in the city or within 3 miles of the city boundary during the contract.
