Walsall Voluntary Action has a new team at the helm following our Annual General Meeting on 3 December. The meeting, held at The Crossing at St. Paul’s in Walsall town centre, saw representatives from a variety of local voluntary groups gather to elect a number of new directors to the Walsall Voluntary Action board, together with a new Chair. Mike Lee, of Walsall-based charity Breathing Space, will be taking over the reins from retiring Chair Liz Walford.
During the meeting, members viewed a promotional film highlighting some of Walsall Voluntary Action’s achievements over the last year, including the annual Voluntary Action Showcase held at the town’s Banks’s Stadium.
Outgoing Chair Liz Walford said:
“The last year has been very successful for WVA and I would like to thank the directors and staff for all their hard work and support”.
Speaking after the meeting, new Chair Mike Lee thanked Liz for her dedication and efforts in building a firm foundation upon which Walsall Voluntary Action can develop. Mike said:
“A strong Walsall Voluntary Action is essential to sustain the borough’s voluntary and community organisations. Together with the new board and staff, I look forward to continuing to build a robust organisation that supports, represents and sustains the unique and invaluable services that voluntary and community organisations provide to residents across Walsall”.
