Have your say on Walsall Council’s Single Equality SchemePublished in Featured,Local News,News on 21st January, 2010

Walsall Council is currently seeking views on its proposals for a new single equality scheme, which will set out the Council’s commitments to equality in service delivery and help to identify priorities and areas for improvement in relation to tackling inequalities.  Comments need to be received by 31 January 2010.

The scheme sets out a series of equalities commitments, covering race, disability and gender. In drawing up these commitments, Walsall Council aims to ensure the promotion of equality of opportunity, good community relations and the elimination of unlawful discrimination and harassment.  In addition to the legislative requirements the council will continue to be meeting its obligations in sexuality, age and religion and belief.

The full version of the draft equality scheme is available on the Council’s website by following the link here.  It’s a chance to have a say on an issue that affects us all, so make sure you share your views before the closing date!
