Walsall Children’s Trust is inviting suitably experienced providers to apply for the Integrated Young People’s Support Service (IYPSS) Competitive Grant programme.Integrated Young People’s Support Services are about re-shaping services designed to support young people including the Youth Service, Youth Offending Service, and Connexions in partnership with agencies and key partners to provide a fully integrated approach to service delivery for the benefit of young people across Walsall. Â
IYPSS will:
- focus on action and making a difference
- be committed to improving outcomes for young people, families and the community
- put the active involvement of young people at its centre
- provide flexible services based on needs
- serve everyone aged 9-19 (up to 24 years for some), with special attention for those most in need
- build on existing good practice and employ a highly skilled and effective workforce who enjoy working with young people
This programme is about delivering Positive Activities, Positive Engagement and also a reduction in Youth Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour. The priorities reflect the Children and Young People’s Plan and Integrated Young People’s Support Service:
1. Increase the number of young people in Employment, Education and Training (EET)
2. Reduce the number of young people entering the youth justice system
3. Reducing proportion of young people misusing substances
4. Reduce teenage pregnancy, through preventative approaches
5. Increase young people’s participation in positive activities, including engagement in democratic process
The service must address in a co-ordinated way, one or more of the five priorities for IYPSS with a focus on the age range of 9-19 (up to 24 years; also increasing the proportion of YP participating in positive activities (LAA target), including engagement in democratic process.
Approaches are welcomed that have an evidence base for successfully delivering projects and improving outcomes for Children & Young People.
A Stakeholder Engagement Event will be held on 2nd February 2010 10.30am-1pm at The Dartmouth Community Centre, 40 New Forest Road, New Forest Glade Estate, Dartmouth, Walsall, WS3 1TR.
