Social enterprise in action: a real eye opener!Published in Featured,Local News,News,WVA News on 4th February, 2010

One of the biggest challenges facing people who are blind or partially sighted is overcoming the myths and breaking through the barriers that prevent them from gaining employment.  Given the right opportunity and support, blind and partially sighted people can add real value to your organisation.

Action for Blind People is inviting social enterprises to come and find out how you can support blind and partially sighted people in the West Midlands; whether its offering a work experience placement, or making your business more accessible.

The information event will be held at the Concept Conference Centre, 58-72 John Bright Street, Birmingham B1 1BN on Friday 5 March, from 10am – 2pm.  It’s a chance to:

  • Find out more about Action for Blind People’s Social Enterprise and Employment Development (SEED) project.
  • See what support is available to social enterprises offering work placements.
  • Have a look around the Concept Conference Centre; a social enterprise where all the kitchen staff are registered blind.
  • Ask some questions.
  • Enjoy some great food!

If you would like to attend, please call Kerry Chase on 0113 386 2800 or email kerry.chase@actionforblindpeople.org.uk.
