Crisis Food Workshop set for 15 JunePublished in Featured, Local News, News on 9th June, 2010

The possibility of developing a Walsall-wide project to redistribute food to vulnerable people and groups will be discussed at a special workshop event to be held at St Paul’s at the Crossing, Walsall on Tuesday 15th June from 12.30pm – 4.00pm.

Walsall Housing Group (whg) recently commissioned a feasibility study to look at developing a food project to redistribute short dated nutritious food that would otherwise be disposed of via landfill. Over the past nine months whg, in partnership with the voluntary and community sector, have undertaken some small pilot projects distributing over 15 tonnes of food to vulnerable people and groups.

The workshop will be an opportunity to learn about the key findings of the feasibility study and explore further how a project can be developed within Walsall’s voluntary and community sector.  The event will start with lunch at 12.30, followed by the feasibility feedback and workshop sessions to explore the next steps in the creation of a food distribution project.

If you would like to attend, please email paul.mason@whgrp.co.uk by Thursday 10th June 2010.  The organisers would be grateful if you could also specify if you have any dietary requirements.
