About WVAPublished in WVA News on 11th July, 2007

Walsall Voluntary Action is the trading name for Walsall Council for Voluntary Services, a Company limited by guarantee (company registration number 03705372) and a registered charity (registration number 1074659.) It is a membership organisation, with membership open to any independent, not for profit organisations operating within the Borough. Membership is also open to statutory organisations and individuals that wish to support the work of WVA.

WVA grew out of a Community Development Unit within Walsall Guild for Voluntary Services. Walsall CVS was formally inaugurated in the summer of 1995, and was incorporated in 1999. The name Walsall Voluntary Action reflects the following key directions;

That it works to benefit Walsall’s diverse communities.

That it supports Walsall’s voluntary and community sector in its widest sense.

That it is action focused and forward thinking.

Your group can join WVA and receive our mailings which contain news and information on issues of importance to voluntary and community groups.

We can provide you with the information you need to setup or run a voluntary or community organisation. We help setup and provide a vast range of development support to many local groups every year. However small or large your organisation may be we can help.

We offer practical help with your groups needs from organising learning for people in your group to administering payroll for your employees.

We can help you recruit volunteers to support the work of your organisation. If you are interested in volunteering yourself we can also find you suitable opportunities. If you are a business and would like to volunteer some of your time to support the local community then we can also help you do that.

If your group needs to raise funds we can also help find suitable sources of funding for you. Visit our online funding portal where you can find out about all relevant opportunities for funding in Walsall.

We also work in partnership with other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector across Walsall and the Black Country so if we can’t help you directly it is likely that we can signpost you to an organisation that can.

WVA is committed to working in partnership with public sector bodies such as Walsall Council and the NHS to work together on how community based services can better meet local needs. The voluntary and community sector have a lot to offer in local delivery of services and WVA are committed to improving local services. WVA believe that there needs to be greater involvement of local organisations in the decision making, design and delivery of public services.
